Photography and Visual Narration
This course explores photography as a visual language and a narrative tool. Through historical, theoretical, and practice-based approaches, students examine how photographs construct meaning, tell stories, and engage with issues of memory, identity, power, and representation. The course combines lectures, visual analysis, hands-on photographic exercises, critical discussions, and project-based learning. Students are encouraged to develop both technical skills and a personal visual voice while critically reflecting on the ethics and politics of looking.
Photography and Multimedia Narrative Workshop
This workshop invites students to explore photography and multimedia as narrative languages—ways of thinking, remembering, and speaking through images, sound, text, sequence, and rhythm. We will practice visual storytelling while developing an ethical, feminist, and care-centered approach to making and sharing work. The course draws inspiration from therapeutic photography practices (without positioning the class as therapy), gendered perspectives of looking, and Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way as a creative habit and confidence-building framework.
